Some Important Career Tips for New Bartenders

So, you've got a job in catering, congratulations! It is easy to be overwhelmed when you are standing behind a bar for the first time. Here are some of our best tips for new bartenders to make your first shift child's play.

Get to know the bar (Ask the questions!)

First of all, it is important to know the bar. Nothing hurts the trust of customers as much as a bartender who does not know his own bar. Before your first shift, it is advisable to get a good overview where everything stands.

You probably work in your first shift with a senior bartender, so do not worry if you cannot remember any beer, liquor or wine that's in stock. They are there to help you, so if you need it, ask for it. By asking and your interest in learning the work behind the bar will make a positive impression on your new employees and executives.

Be flexible

By far, this is one of the most important features for a successful bartender. During your working hours behind the bar, you meet people from all walks of life and thus different personalities; Some are good, others bad. However, it is important to recognize the difference between someone who is a little silly and an open harassment. If you ever feel that you are being bothered by a customer, be sure to report this to your supervisor.

Think about cleanliness

The bar can be very busy and then suddenly very quiet, so it is important to use the quiet times for cleaning. Remove dirty glasses from the bar and make sure you have clean glasses available. Clean the tables and remove the garbage from the floor. Bar areas can be full of health and safety risk, such as broken glass and slippery floors. It is their responsibility to clean the area and remove potential hazards.
